Scenario Management as a Service
with Advanced Technologies from ANDATA
What is it about?
Complex systems cannot, by their very nature, be fully captured and treated by purely analytical thinking, reductionist approaches or individual expert knowledge.
The successful treatment of such systems is primarily based on scenario-, data- and example-based approaches and methods. The system behaviour is examined and analysed using representative and relevant scenarios and data from simulations, physical tests from labs or proving grounds, or from real world cases.
ANDATA provides scenario-based development, validation and assessment of complex systems

How is it done?
The core of scenario management is the Scenario Catalog, which contains all the descriptions, drafts, data, and examples of scenarios from simulations, tests, and the real world.
The Scenario Catalog is filled, updated, and used by a number of cyclic, iterative process blocks.
Data Generation & Collection
Data is generated and collected from
- simulations,
- proving ground and lab tests,
- real world operations and field tests.
Result is the raw data from the various sources being accessible from one common platform.
Data Composition & Labeling
Data is processed, annotated, labeled, catgorized, enabling to extract the relevant data for subsequent data preparation and analysis.
Result is the normalized, annotated, categorized, labeled, and prepared data, ready for further processing and application of machine learning.
Data Plausibilization & Quality Assurance
Data is checked with respect to errors, disturbances, biases, and failures. Anomalies must be identified and managemed early to enable root cause analysis.
Result is the cleared data and its level of trust and confidence.
Data Analysis & Evaluation
Data is analysed with respect to the relevant operational conditions, the required, desired, and real system responses. System requirements are retrieved and formulated consistently. Relevance and representativeness of the data is checked and assessed. Critical situations and edge cases are identified and treated accordingly.
Result is the consolidated knowledge about the relevant operational conditions and functional requirements of the system.
System Development & Assessment
System solutions are derived, components and control models are developed and trained from the selected and prepared data, eg. using model-based predictive control, machine learning, AI, etc. Models, components, and systems are assessed as well as expected system effectiveness and impacts are evaluated.
Result are functional system variants including their validation and assement.
System Implementation & Operation
System solutions are implemented and operated in test and real world environments. System behaviour is monitored to identify potential flaws under real operational conditions.
Data is captured for further adaptions and steady improvements. Critical cases are captured and data for statistical relevance and representativeness is collected.
Result is the steady improvement of the system in operation and the deep knowledge about the relevant operational conditions.
Why Scenario Management as a Service?
Thorough application of Scenario Management requires the concerted, skillful, and interconnected application of many sophisticated, particular technologies.
That’s why ANDATA offers Scenario Management as a Service: to make the results and benefits accessible to all customers comprehensively, without the need to spend months or even years for building up the necessary know-how and infrastructure yourself immediately.
Expertise and Experience
Building on extensive existing experience and expertise without the need to reinvent the wheel.
Continuous Support
Instantaneous support in the project application and the processing of the results.
Transparency and Tracability
Full transparency and tracability of the intermediate results and development progresses.
State-of-the-Art Technologies
Application of prooven and validated technologies, methods, tools, and procedures.
Steady Progress and Innovations
Steady improvement and finetuning of the involved technologies and building blocks, partially with significant innovations.
Division of Labour
Skillful and neat fragmentation for system-of-systems approaches and proper functional decomposition to avoid exponential explosion of development and testing efforts.
Why ANDATA?
Due to the wide range of necessary, interconnected technologies, special skills and experiences in the application of scenario management are required. This are one of ANDATA’s unique selling proposition after many years in practical application for complex problems. We are already through most of the major problems and left them behind us.
Experience and Expertise
ANDATA is one of the pioneers in data and scenario-based development and validation of complex systems with the accompanying technologies since 2004.
Domain Knowledge
ANDATA not only provides excellent methodological knowledge but also broad combined domain expertise in Integral Safety, Vehicle Automation, Robotics, Traffic Control and Automation.
Unique Methods and Tools
ANDATA has exclusive, partially patented tools and methods for calculating congestion risks, collision risks, reserves, and further. With VERONET an overall architecture for smart functional decomposition, ODD management and a complete technology stack for traffic automation is available.
“Scenario Management”, “Big Loop”, “Data-driven Development”, … are different terms for more or less the same. The difference only lays in the point of view and which of the above steps is put into focus first.
